When you initially create a course, it comes with default automation, including basic settings and rules that are preconfigured for your convenience. Nevertheless, you have the option to personalize and enhance these automations to align with your preferences and branding.

To get started, go to 'Courses' and open your desired 'Course'.

Next, go to the 'Automation' tab, where you'll find two pre-set automation rules. To access these rules, either select 'Edit Automation Rules' or click on any of them.

If the button is red and says 'Paused,' it indicates that the automation is not running, and no actions will take place.

To make changes to any of these actions, click the 'Edit' button linked to each rule or select 'Edit Automation Rules.'

While in the automation section, choose the specific automation rule you want, and you'll find a set of settings on the right-hand side. These settings enable you to customize and modify the automation or emails sent to course sign-ups.

Zenler provides default instructions on how to modify and utilize these automations. This helps you comprehend their functionality and suitability for your needs. It's advisable to read this section initially and then remove it. You can locate it by scrolling down in the 'Mail Content' Section.

To add a logo to your email, the 'WYSIWYG Editor' makes it easy for you. For detailed guidance on using the WYSIWYG editor for automation, refer to the 'Support Documents'.

Zenler offers default suggestions as starting templates that you can adjust to meet your specific needs. Therefore, the responsibility lies with you to personalize and refine these automations using the available customization settings.

To include the actual 'Course Name', delete the existing content & click 'Personalize'.

The 'Personalize' window opens with the options, where you can click 'course_name' to insert the course name dynamically.

With "course_name" now inserted into the email, click 'Preview' to review the changes.

The preview displays the actual course name, "How to Easily Create a Course inside Zenler", automatically inserted into the email. This provides you with the opportunity to make any required edits, deletions, or additions as needed.

To further 'Personalize' this email, you can add 'course_access_url' and 'course_player_url.' Afterward, click 'Preview' to see the changes.

Once this configuration is completed, students who purchase the course will receive this email, simplifying access to the course content.

You can also Personalize Mail Subject text but it is limited to 'first-name', 'last_name' & 'full_name'.

After finalizing the email details, click 'Save Changes'. An alert might appear "This action is currently paused! Do you want to make it live now?". If you wish to activate it, click 'Yes'. The red 'Paused' button would now transition to the green 'Live' button (as shown earlier).

You can also 'Send Test Email' to ensure the appearance of the email is satisfactory.

It's crucial to include the 'mailing_address' and 'unsubscribe_link' in your emails for proper functionality. These elements are essential.

For more complex configurations, you can explore 'Filters', which offer additional options. Refer to the 'Support Documents' for further details.

When you are ready, click the 'Make this action live' button.

This message will appear: "Apply to Existing Students!". If students are already enrolled, and you do not want this action to apply to them, click 'No.'

If no students are currently enrolled, the choice is less critical.

The transition to 'Live' is evident once you've made this selection. This signifies that the automation is now active.

It's important to highlight that you can choose when to send emails to students based on their enrollment date using timing options. For instance, the 'Enroll' email can be configured to be sent either immediately or with a specific delay by selecting the 'After' option. You can specify this 'Delay' in terms of minutes, hours, days, or even weeks 'from Enrollment' date.

Click 'Save Changes'.

You can modify the 'Action Name', and this modification will also be updated on the left-hand side after clicking 'Save Changes.'

There are two automation rules set up by default: 'On Enroll' & 'On Course Complete'.

You have the ability to 'Add Rule' > 'On Lesson Complete'.

Within each 'Automation Rule,' you can 'Add Action' such as 'Send Email' or 'Add Tag', to tag your users when they enroll, making it easy to identify them when filtering your students.

You can also choose to 'Remove Tag'. This can be helpful if, for instance, people enter through a different funnel or course and then upgrade to a new course. You could remove the old tag and add a new one.

Additionally, you have the ability to 'Send a Webhook', allowing you to send an outgoing webhook to platforms like Zapier. If you're unfamiliar with webhooks, leave this option untouched.

Lastly, the 'Notify Admin' action. Using this feature means that the system will send you an email providing information about the student enrolled in your course.

You might not need some of these emails and delete them by clicking the 'Delete' button.

To create a copy of any of the action emails, click the 'Clone' icon.

This message will appear. Complete 'Action Name' i.e. "Second Mail" & 'Select Rule': Enroll Email Sequence or Course Completion Email Sequence. We choose 'Enroll Email Sequence'. Then click 'Clone'.

Now, there are two identical actions, but you have the flexibility to personalize the details of the cloned action named 'Second Mail.'

On the right hand-side, you can adjust the 'Delay' from enrollment for sending it out (i.e. 1 day later), update the 'Mail Subject,' or modify the 'Mail Content.'

Then, simply click 'Save Changes.'

Once again, you will be presented with the choice to make this action 'Live' immediately, we selected 'Yes'.

You'll see that it also provides the option to apply it to existing students or only to new ones. Choose 'No'.

Now, you'll notice that this automation is in effect. Thus, when individuals enroll in this course, they will receive the first email immediately upon enrollment, followed by the second email one day later.

This summarizes the fundamental concept of how automations operate within Zenler. For additional details regarding specific rules and setup within automation for your courses, please refer to the 'Support Documents'.
