Overview

Double opt-in email verification is a process that requires users to confirm their email address after signing up by clicking a verification link sent to their inbox. This ensures the email address is valid, improves deliverability, and helps maintain a clean and engaged contact list.

This helps:

  • Improve email deliverability

  • Prevent fake or mistyped email signups

  • Ensure compliance with best practices for email consent

Feature Goal

To implement a Double Opt-In Email Verification System that:

  • Verifies user email addresses before granting access

  • Suspends all non-verification emails until verification

  • Maintains consistent user state even when settings are toggled

Scope of Application

When Double Opt-In is enabled, it applies to:

  • Free courses

  • Free bundles

  • Marketing Funnels

  • Free live sessions

  • All lead forms on pages and popups

Paid checkouts are not affected.

How to enable Double Opt-In

By default, this option is disabled, and new users are treated as verified regardless of validity.

To enable double opt-in, go to Site > Site Settings > Emails > Double Opt-In.

The toggle allows you to enable or disable the double opt-in feature. When enabled, it applies to checkout forms for free courses, bundles, and live sessions, as well as all lead forms on pages and popups.

How it works

When a new user attempts to sign up, after filling out and submitting the form, they will see the message as below:

A verification email is sent to the registered email address, and the user remains unverified until the link is clicked or an admin verifies the user manually.

The user will receive an email as shown below:

The email contains a verification link that allows the user to complete the verification themselves.

Note: The verification link is valid for 2 hours.

Unverified users will be excluded from receiving all emails, including automations and email broadcasts. Any automations configured prior to email verification will not be triggered after verification; only emails set to send post-verification will be delivered to the user.

Where can you find people who have not completed email verification?

Users who have not verified their email address will be listed under Site > People > Unverified.

There is an Export (CSV) option that allows the list to be exported as a CSV file.

Under Actions, there are three options:

  • Email icon – Resends the verification email to the user.

  • Verify Email – Allows the admin to manually verify the user’s email address.

  • Delete – Deletes the user from the site.

Email Configuration (System Emails)

You can customize the email format that users receive by going to Site > Language > System Mail.
