Surveys in Zenler are a powerful tool to gather feedback, conduct research, or engage your students. You can add surveys directly into your course curriculum and customize them to match your style.

To add a survey to your course, go to 'Courses' and select the 'Course' where you want to add the survey.

Next, go to 'Curriculum' and open the lesson where you want to add the survey.

Click on 'Add Content' > 'Survey'.

You will be asked to enter a title for your survey.

Click 'Add’ to proceed.

This will direct you to the survey builder area, where you can begin creating your survey questions.

The survey title will appear in the top left corner of the area. You can edit this title by clicking on it directly.

To navigate back to the curriculum, click the left arrow next to the survey title.

Welcome Page

This is the initial page that appears when the student starts the survey. You can modify the text on this page by clicking directly on it.

If you prefer not to display this page to students, you can deactivate it by toggling the button next to it.

How to Add a Question

To add questions, click the [+ Add] button.

After clicking the Add button, you will see various types of questions available:

  • Multiple Choice

  • Multiple Response

  • True/False

  • Media

  • Rating

  • Scale

  • Free Text

  • Fill in the Blanks

Multiple Choice

Allows students to select one answer from multiple options.

Example:

Question: How satisfied are you with the course content?

Answers: Very Satisfied, Satisfied, Neutral, Dissatisfied, Very Dissatisfied

You can add more answer options to a survey question by clicking the '+ Add Option' button.

You can also customize the settings for each question to enhance the respondent experience. These settings include options to mark a question as required, randomize it, and Align It Vertically.

Required: To ensure it must be answered before proceeding.

Randomize: Shuffles the answer choices each time that question is attempted.

Vertical Alignment: Arranges the answer options vertically on the page.

After making your changes, click 'Save' to apply them.

You can enhance your questions by adding media such as images, audio, and video.

To do this, click on the media icon located in the top-right corner under the question settings. This feature allows you to create more engaging and interactive surveys for your respondents.

Multiple Response

Similar to multiple choice, it allows students to select multiple answers.

Example:

Question: Which features do you use in Zenler?

Answers: Quizzes, Surveys, Live Classes, Assignments

Participants can select all applicable answers.

True/False

Presents a statement for students to identify as true or false.

Example:

Question: Zenler allows you to create live classes.

Answers: True, False

Participants can mark the answer by clicking '✓'.

Media

Create questions that include images.

Upload images by clicking the image icon for each option.

Rating

Allows students to rate a statement or item on a predefined scale.

Example:

  • Question: Rate your satisfaction with the course.

  • Scale: 1 (Very Unsatisfied) to 5 (Very Satisfied)

You can customize the rating scale to suit your needs. Specifically, you can set the scale up to 10 points, allowing respondents to provide more detailed feedback. Additionally, you have the flexibility to change the design of the rating icons to better match your branding or the tone of your survey.

Scale

Enables students to evaluate multiple items using the same scale.

Example:

  • Question: Evaluate the following aspects of the course.

  • Items:

    • Content Quality

    • Instructor Engagement

    • Platform Usability

  • Scale: 1 (bad) to 5 (Excellent)

You can display labels for each point on a rating scale by enabling the 'Show Labels' option in the Answer Settings. Once activated, you can edit these labels directly to suit your preferences. For example, you might label the ends of a 1–5 scale ( you can adjust the rating scale to include up to 10 points) as "Bad," "Good," and "Excellent" to provide clearer context for respondents.

Free Text

Provides an open-ended field for students to input their responses.

You can set a maximum character limit for Free Text questions. To do this, navigate to the Question Settings of the Free Text question and specify the desired character limit in the 'Max Characters' field.

Fill in the Blanks

Students can complete sentences by filling in missing words.

Example:

  • Question: Zenler allows you to create ______ and host ______.

To include additional blanks, simply click the [Add Blank] button.

Thank You Page

Displayed upon survey completion.

You can edit the text to convey a personalized message.

While adding questions to your survey, you'll see a "+Add Group" option below the question types. This feature helps you organize your survey by grouping related questions together, making it easier for respondents to navigate and for you to manage the survey structure.

If you need to delete multiple questions, having them grouped enables you to remove all questions within a specific group at once, simplifying the editing process.
